Axe Apollo Philippine Team Flies to Space Camp in Florida, USA

The three-man team of Evan Ray Datuin, Chino Roque, and Ramil Santos flew to Orlando, Florida in the United States to undergo a five-day rigorous training at the AXE Apollo Space Academy Space Camp at the Kennedy Space Center. The trio will train like astronauts and compete for the ultimate prize – a trip to space, and the opportunity to become the first Filipino astronaut.

Through months of mental and physical preparation, the AXE Apollo Team Philippines members are primed and more than ready to face three daunting tasks courtesy of LYNX Space Academy® training missions that await them at the Kennedy Space Center.

First, they will have to deal with zero gravity via an epic flight that will simulate the feeling of complete weightlessness. Second, they will embark on high-speed aerobatic maneuvers onboard a SIAI Marchetti SF260 to test their iron will and bravery in the face of death-defying aerial wizardry. Lastly, they will experience the ruthless ravages of G Force through the G Force Simulator, a machine that knows no mercy or remorse.

At the end of the LYNX Space Academy® training week, 22 men and women, including the country’s first astronaut, will be selected by an elite panel of judges to go to space onboard a Space Expedition Corporation (Space XC) shuttle.

Axe Apollo Team Philippines is Ready!

Workouts, scuba diving and medical tests prep AXE Apollo Team Philippines for Space Camp

They’re raring to go, but are they ready? After weeks of training under Crossfit Manila (CFMNL) and Siltless Deep Sea Diving Center, it would appear that our AXE Apollo Team Philippines members definitely are.

CFMNL, with branches in Makati, the Fort, Pasig, Libis and Alabang, gave ten high intensity workouts to Evan Ray Datuin, Ramil Santos, and Chino Roque. The three astronaut hopefuls were given a very challenging battery of 7 minute AMRAP (as many rounds/reps as possible) of wall balls, box jumps, squat thrusts, push-ups, and chin-ups. In doing this, the physical limits of the trio were rapidly pushed to the brink, and then expanded immediately afterwards.

From there, Siltless Diving head Jason Kho Gillo prepared them to deal with near-weightless environments, as is the case when underwater. Giving all three in-water instructions, they were taken on a Discover Scuba Experience program, which is a worldwide certified program for beginners to get their feet wet literally and figuratively when it comes to diving. As an introduction rather than a full course, of the 5 Chapters required to complete the Discover Scuba Experience program, only 1 was given for the three astronaut hopefuls.

At the St. Luke’s Global City’s Felicidad Sy Health and Wellness Center, a team of world-class physicians and nurses conducted a battery of physical tests on AXE Apollo Team Philippines members to assess their physical fitness and health readiness for the rigors of space camp. They had basic medical consultations, blood tests, x-rays, treadmill exercise tests, ECG’s, and ultrasound using the hospital’s state-of-the-art facilities.

The Filipino’s resilience is a trait that all three members of Team Axe Apollo Philippines are very fortunate to have. As they head towards their date with destiny, the entire Filipino nation is ready to share in this moment and cheer them on.

With Pepsodent, Brushing can be fun!

Brushing indeed can be fun!That's how Unilever says it with Pepsodent their Number 1 toothpaste brand. The company would like to strengthen their campaign on the brushing habits of the Filipino children through their Brushing Adventure campaign. The campaign would like to educate kids and their moms on proper brushing and doing it at least twice a day. Pepsodent would also like to teach them on how to make brushing fun rather than instill in them the fear of what could happen if the kids would not do the brushing.

To officially launch the campaign, students from Rafael Palma Elementary School were invited by Pepsodent and their partners FDI World Dental Federation, and the Philippine Dental Association (PDA) to a fun filled day and activities together with their teachers and parents and Unilever employees. Kids were very focused and enjoyed watching the Pepsodent Brushing Adventure Musical Play. In line with this, Pepsodent would like to stress the needs for the children to learn about dental health at an early age. Starting young and being guided by their families this could actually turn into a good habit for the young ones. Based on PDA President Dr. Fernando Fernandez, 8 out of 10 5-year old Filipino kids have cavities and one of the highest cavity incidence levels in the world. "Brushing with fluoride toothpaste twice a day can cut cavities by up to 50% in children, compared with just brushing once," says Dr. Fernandez.

The Brand Manager for Pepsodent, Gem Laforteza said that the campaign was inspired by parents who often struggle to get their kids to brush. Mothers play an important role because they are the ones who is primary there during the growing up years of their kids so their involvement in the development of a healthy brushing habit is essential to ensuring the dental and overall health of their kids. "Through Unilever's Pepsodent Brushing Adventure Campaign, we want to turn brushing, a potentially boring activity, into a moment of fun, adventure and learning. This will help moms nurture the habit of day and night brushing, which is crucial to overall health."

Yeng Constantino All Set for "Plugged In"

Miss Philippines is 3rd Runner Up in Miss Universe 2013

Our very own Ariella Arida bagged the 3rd Runner Up award from the recently concluded Miss Universe 2013. A pool of mixed emotions soared through social media sites. Some wanting to curse the judges, others thought her answer was so right, and a few thought her answer lacked that "umph". 

We did not get the title this year but we should still celebrate that we have been consistently on the Top 5 for four consecutive years, also who would've expected that we almost made it to the crown when in fact Ara was called for the Top 16 as the last one since she got the slot from online votes. So you see my dear fellow Filipinos, we still have a lot to be thankful for, we will get to that coveted crown soon, but for now...

Congratulations to our dearest Ariella Arida, you gave your best shot and we are proud of you! Congrats Philippines! We made it till the end.

Pagpag (Siyam na Buhay) for MMFF2013 Number 1

We were given the opportunity to visit the location shoot for Pagpag (Siyam na Buhay) at Enchanted Kingdom in Sta. Rosa Laguna. This is Star Cinema's official entry for the 2013 Metro Manila Festival and stars the most loved team up of their generation Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla. "Pagpag" is a horror film, it basically circulates around a certain old Filipino belief that whenever you came from a wake (lamay), be sure to drop by any store or establishment before going home.

The movie characters composed of a teen "barkada" (peer group) will show viewers lessons and beliefs that we can actually follow and wouldn't cause us harm. Aside from KathNiel, also in this movie are Dominique Roque, Michelle Vito, CJ Navato and Miles Ocampo. I personally admire Kathryn and Daniel, amidst their busyness they still graced us with an interview and still all smiles even if its already past midnight. So I pledge to be in full support of Pagpag (Siyam na Buhay) to be on the Number 1 spot for MMFF2013 (Metro Manila Film Festival)

The Fairytale Wedding of The Year of Ser Chief and Maya

Finally! Fans and viewers including me who supported "Be Careful with my Heart" since the start is so eagerly excited for the up coming wedding of our favorite Maya (Jodi Sta. Maria) and the very loveable Ser Chief (Richard Yap).

The countdown already began since the wedding date was announced, so save the date: November 15. Preparations for this "kilig-serye's" wedding is in full blast, it's as if there really is a "real" wedding that's going to happen soon. Robin Padilla Renews Another Good Partnership with Talk 'N Text

Enrique Gil is the King of the Gil

Woah! First day showing of the movie "She's The One" starring Enrique Gil, Dingdong Dantes and Bea Alonzo hits 12M! I am proud to be part of that first day and it was worth it.

The movie will make you fall in love with the characters. Bea Alonzo as Cat: There are a lot of ladies out there who for sure would probably relate to her situation of being the "Best Friend." Dingdong Dantes: The man who just enjoys his life and his girls. And Enrique Gil: Super hot young boy who is man enough to search for his woman. I don't want to be the one giving out a lot of details about this movie because I think this is worth your penny, a feel good movie about life, friendship and love.

At first I though why Enrique? Too young? But I'm telling you the role actually fits him, and surprisingly this time I think he's really hot. I super love Bea, so if you are a fan of her movies you'd probably remember 'Basha" in some of her scenes especially on the part where Cat (Bea) and Wacky (Dingdong) had a huge argument. Dingdong on the other hand made me feel that he really is a one of a kind actor, someone who can be paired with different leading ladies and yet still comes out so perfectly distinct from his other roles.

Juan dela Cruz | The Final Week

Juan dela Cruz is now a household name, yes they earned this spot for providing a wholesome teleserye that caters to everyone in the family. Juan is now considered a modern day hero and kids are very fascinated about the character and wants to be like him.

As the teleserye comes to their final week to closing, the cast, especially Juan dela Cruz himself Mr. Coco Martin wants to thank everyone who supported the show. Takshing | Relax and Energize

When I was informed of the invitation for this visit to Takshing, I thought it was the usual spa pampering treat, and so I inmediately said yes since I really needed some relaxing too.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by the lovely daughter of the Franchisee, Ms. Anna, she was very nice and "ma-chika" and immediately assisted us to try their massage.

Before we started, our bags were securely kept in lockers and the keys were given to us, our feet were firsts dipped in lukewarm water, it felt so good. After a few minutes, we were assisted to our own massage rooms. The room was large enough for a cute corner table, the massage bed and spacious for the attendant to roam around during massage time.

For those of you who are quite not comfortable being almost naked during a massage session, no worries, Takshing has a comfortable massage clothing for you: a pair of shorts and shirt large enough to be lifted when certain areas need to be massaged.

The main course, the massage freaked me out at first because the attendant, Ate Lorna told be that she'll be using the electric current to massage me. There you go! Surprise! So this is what's different from the other Spa salons. I was super nervous that I might get electrecuted but Ate Lorna was very nice to calm me and ensure that everything is safe. So I gave in, it wasn't scary at all and amazing as it is the electric current goes through Ate Lorna's hands passed on to every stroke she did on my body parts. It has a tingling feel, Ate Lorna can actually control the intensity of the current by using a black pad from the floor, her foot did the controlling, I wasn't even listening on her other explanations because I started enjoying the massage. I requested to focus on the part of my head for my migraine.

Takshing was franchised  and originated from Hong Kong, it actually has healing powers that's why most of their clients are adults, who eventually feels better every after session, and I am hoping this could help for my migraine.

After the session, I felt energized, it was different because when after my usual massages before, I'd feel tired and almost ready to sleep. Ms. Anna said that's what most of their younger clients say, so you see I'm still young lol! All in all the experience was very educational and I will really come back for more sessions.
