Hello mga misis, today's Filipino Food ulam is Giniling! This Pinoy ulam is special for me kasi favorite ito ni Tatay. A little trivia, some years ago nung jowa levels pa lang kami ni Tatay, I asked him what is his favorite ulam, He answered, he can eat Giniling everyday. Ayun na mga marse, pag uwi ko, mega ask ako sa Tita ko na magaling magluto to cook giniling the next day so I can watch. A bit tiring ang preparation, mega tadtad ng vegetables but then the end product is worth it.

Here's how I cook Tatay's favorite Giniling, please watch:

Hi friends, here's another feature from Chika Misis

This feature is not sponsored. I just wanted to share some of the baby bath products that are available in the market. All of what we have now are gifts and we are very thankful that our baby boy's bath time is already covered.

So here's my video blog and I hope you like it. (please bear with me as my editing skills are still in the works, thus this long video)

Hi friends, here's another feature on the Cooking Misis.

Last weekend, 2nd Avenue invited me for a cooking class, and for the love of cooking of course I said I will be there. It was held at the Mushrooms Kitchen School inside Valle Verde 5. The place is just enough for a whole class. I love the set-up, the Chef's table is fully equipped with a TV monitor for students to easily see what is being done in front.

Everyone got excited know that what we'll be doing was Japanese Cuisine. When the recipe papers were handed over, I giggled out of excitement. We will be cooking Japanese Rice, Tempura, California Maki and Chicken Tempura for the whole afternoon. I was enjoying the whole time following instructions from our Chef instructor, no pressure, she was so patient and goes around to check and give tips especially on the Tempura. All the hard work was worth it because we finally created our own Bento Box with all our dishes.

I can describe it as an afternoon of cooking with friends, and we were totally happy with the results. Authentic Japanese Cuisine made by us. Super proud of myself for pulling this off and excited to try it at home.

Sharing with you my video blog about the event. Enjoy!

Hi again friends, today I craved and wanted to cook corned beef. I just feel like doing an easy dish since I am PMS-ing so you know what that means. Anyway, corned beef can be mixed with vegetables to make it a bit healthy. Here's how I did it and hope you like it!

On our #CookingMisis segment now is my "Chicken Adobo" as a disclaimer this is just my version and what I call the basic. Eventually if you'll learn your own measurement and depending on your family's taste, you can also create your own version.

So here goes the video, hope you like it:

Kidzoona is the best play place so far that is toddler and budget friendly. So I thought we could have a playdate together with my "Kumare's" and their toddlers too. This was our first and plans to do it every month and adding some more friends from our previous company where we all got to know each other.

Here's a quick tour of the Kidzoona play area and a few tips about the place. Enjoy the video!

In this day and age, movie makers would rather go with a safe category  and one that will ensure good ticket sales. Often times movies should have a "love team" in it or a teen group, anything that the millennials would love. There's nothing wrong with that because piracy is everywhere and production outfits just wanted to make sure that their hard work is paid off as well.

So when I was invited to the press conference of "Double Barrel" I was a bit surprised that it is an action film. But was impressed on how brave they are to pursue the movie making. And they are all positive that action films can still be a hit even through these times. "Double Barrel" stars Jeric Raval, Phoebe Walker and AJ Muhlach. Joining the cast is a newbie in the showbiz world but is still famous by name - Ali Khatibi; yes he is the better half of my personal bet as the winner of the defunct reality show "I Can Do That" Cristine Reyes-Khatibi.

I admit, I am more curious of who Ali is in person and what's his take on showbiz life. Also, did Cristine instantly allow his entering showbizness? Find out more with our quick interview with Ali during the presscon on the video below:

As much as I want to not introduce my son to gadgets, let's face it, there's no way we can escape. They see us and other children using phones or iPads/tablets, thus they would also want one. Our little boy now 2 years old has a Chery Mobile phone for his offline youtube videos. We don't want him to go online even if its youtube kids because he wants to watch all of the videos non-stop. At least with offline he only has a few and will get tired of it, then he stops and plays with his toys again.

I stumbled upon a Facebook post of a mom sharing her story of what happened to her child because of the excessive use of gadgets. Take your time to read and learn something out of their experience.

FYI: I asked permission for this to be posted

Partly yes!

Now, back to Mikaylas case.. after CT scan, X-ray, EEG at MRI, all result are negative.. ALMOST normal.. why almost normal?

FHM’s Number 2 from its 100 Sexiest List is Kim Domingo. While some are protesting why she is not number 1, Kim is just so thankful that she landed the spot. It’s not a big deal for her and she honestly doesn’t want fans to fight over it. She was happy and thankful to all those who supported and voted for her and feels blessed that she was recognized.

Aside from the recognition, Kim is also proud and happy that her photo book is now available in leading book stores and magazine stands nationwide. The book contains her story on how she started as a model up to now being an artist, plus a lot of photos of Kim that were sexy and artistically photographed by Ejay Leung, Paolo Pineda and Shaira Luna.

Kim Domingo’s photo book is entitled State of Undress. And if you want to meet and have a photo with Kim Domingo while she signs your book, you may buy your copies at National Book Store or Power Book outlets and present it on July 1, 2 to 5pm at NBS Glorietta 1. The book is only Php250 so get yours now!

Here’s a short video on how Kim handles bashers and how she answered someone who made a rude comment about her:

I was invited to a Mom’s Day Out event courtesy of Sun Life Financial, the number 1 Life Insurance Company here in the Philippines. It was held at I’M Hotel in Makati, wherein I’m Onsen Spa was also located. I got excited about visiting the hotel since I’ve seen a lot of photos of their swimming pool area plus knowing that we’ll have a spa treatment too. Talking about hitting two birds with one stone lol!

Hi Ms Michele

For the Family
For the first part, we were ushered in a room where the talk will be held. The first speaker was Ms. Michelle Alignay, a Family Life Specialist. She looks intimidating, like she was so serious and all, but when she started to talk, my attention was all hers. Her topic was interesting, about family and being a mom. I specifically love her topic about not getting guilty if ever there are times we need to leave our kids for some “me time” because we deserve it. Also, that there is nothing wrong to stop or pause and not fix everything and give ourselves time to rest. Oh it was such a relief for first time moms like me to hear encouraging words that everything is going to be alright even though there are life challenges. I love her and would love to talk with her some more in the future lol! (I think I can talk all day)

For The Future
The second talk was by Ms. Mylene Segismundo, Cluster Head of Sun Life. She discussed on how we can start now and save for our child’s future. I was shocked on how many millions a college tuition fee would cost when my baby would eventually enter college. So when I got home I told my husband that we have to be ready for it and start soon so we won’t have to deal with it in the future. It was an eye opener that there are people from Sun Life Financial willing to help and assist us in planning for our future and it’s for FREE!

For Relaxation
After the very educational talks, we lead to have our spa at I’m Onsen Spa. We were made to change into our Japanese Robes in the locker area, no need to worry their lockers is very high tech and very secured so I was comfortable leaving my valuables inside.
Then we went on the area where we will wait to be called by our therapist. Surprisingly the area was so huge with lots of comfortable lazy boy kind of seats plus hot and cold tea was available while we sit and wait and of course have our photos taken. Here’s a quick video of the area.

Ate Jen and I in my Japanese Robe

Finally my name was called by my therapist, Ate Jen. I was ushered in the spa area and again it was like an entire floor of massage rooms with private curtains. I chose the single room only but saw that there were rooms for couples too and thought to myself I will be back here with my husband so we can avail the couple room yay! Ate Jen was very careful when it came to the massage she kept asking me during the first part if I was okay with the strength of her hand. You see, based on my past massage experiences, therapist would go in and massage me the “hard” way because they thought maybe just because I am chubby that I won’t feel them when it’s just a “light” massage. Wrong! Lol! I hate “hard” I just want it “light” it relaxes me. That’s why when Ate Jen finally got a hold of how I wanted my strokes, I dozed off. The place was just so relaxing, a little bit cold at times but still the best one I experienced so far, and the oil that was used on me smells just about right.

The very spacious spa room

For Food
After the very lovely massage, a dinner buffet was waiting at the Bloom restaurant. What a way to cap off the day with a wide spread of food for buffet. Bloom restaurant was very cozy, the variety of food was that of an international buffet style restaurants. There was a vegetable station, my favorite broccoli and cauliflower in mushroom sauce was my "rice" for the meals, just because I don't want to be super full immediately and won't be able to taste the other sumptuous dishes. The Tempura station was heaven, always filled with freshly fried Japanese staples. Other stations were the soup, salad, and grill stations with a lot of food choices that definitely is comforting.

There was also a pasta station for all you pasta lovers out there, you can ask the chef to create one for you, cooked to your hearts desire. The dessert station will always be the area where most people converge, unbelievably Bloom's has a good spread of sweets. Crepes can be made upon request and topped with a scoop of ice cream, imagine it melting on your crepe? Drool my dear friends.

If you enjoyed reading my post, good news you can also experience the Mom's Day Out courtesy of Sun Life Financial by visiting their facebook page here: Sun Life Financial to know more. Hurry there's another one happening on July 1st, so register immediately!

To wrap things up, it was indeed a day which filled my whole being from my mind, to my body down to my tummy. Thank you again to Sun Life Financial for this very fruitful event. Also, thank you to the very generous product sponsors for our goodie bags.

I hope the next time I could try their swimming pool (finally saw this up close)

If you think you can protect your family from diseases by using any kind of soap, think again. Wherever you go, bacteria abounds. Many of these bacteria are able to cause foul odor, skin infection and diseases such as diarrhea, cough, colds and the like.
Worse, these bacteria are increasingly hardier, dirtier, and can multiply faster than you expect, therefore putting your family members at risk.

Consider these troubling facts about bacteria:

1.     The number of bacteria that live in and on us outnumber our own human cells by ten to one.
2.     Common cold, flu and stomach viruses can live on the fingertips for hours and can survive on the surfaces of objects for days
3.     80% of all infections, from the common cold and flu to venereal disease and Ebola fever, are transmitted by people touching one another or touching objects that others have touched
4.     A shopping cart can contain more fecal E. Coli than a supermarket toilet.
5.     One study found that in schools, water fountain buttons, pencil sharpeners, keyboards and faucet handles were the most contaminated objects with viruses.
6.     Phones have been found to have up to 4200 bacteria from fecal contamination. Safe drinking water should have less than 1 bacteria per 100ml.
7.     In an environment as humid as a bathroom, a single bacterial cell can multiply into one billion cells overnight.
8.     When someone comes to work sick, about half of the commonly touched surfaces in the office will become infected with the virus by lunchtime.

In light of this disturbing data, it is imperative for all members of the household, especially children, to use the right kind of soap that can kill these germs effectively and prevent their regrowth.

Unfortunately, not all soaps are created equal. Experts have demonstrated that most soaps do not protect their family from modern day germ threats. Protection from germ threats begin with proper hand washing and bathing using an effective antibacterial soap like Safeguard.

Safeguard with Germshield+ technology can fight a broad spectrum of gram positive and gram-negative Moreover, Germshield+ technology inhibits the regrowth of these bacteria and fungi for up to 24 hours, thereby providing optimal protection.

For over 50 years in the Philippines, Safeguard has been recommended by the leading health experts for germ protection for the entire family.  Encouraging proper hygiene, frequent hand washing, and the use the Safeguard will make your job as protector of the family easier and more effective.

On course to cement his third week at #1 & #2 respectively in the UK’s Official Singles Chart tomorrow [Ed made OCC history as the first-ever artist to land the two spots respectively with two brand new tracks], Ed recently conquered more milestones in the USA after landing his first-ever #1 as a performer on the Billboard Hot 100 with "Shape Of You" - with "Castle On The Hill" sitting closely behind at #6 on the chart, Ed also became the first artist to debut in Billboard's 'Top 10' with two songs simultaneously. Not to mention the huge assortment of Spotify records broken by the troubadour this month, making history with their biggest-ever ‘one week’ and ‘one day’ streams for a track, globally with “Shape Of You” (the records were previously held by Drake’s “One Dance” and Adele’s “Hello”, respectively). Moreover, Ed topped the streaming service’s biggest-ever opening 24 hour streams with both singles, surpassing previous title holders, One Direction. Reaching 132 combined #1 iTunes positions around the world and accomplishing Apple Music’s biggest-ever ‘day’ and ‘one week’ streams, the two singles have accumulated over 370 MILLION worldwide streams to date. Launched on Monday, Ed’s official video for “Castle On The Hill”, which was shot in his native Framlingham, Suffolk, has already reached over 10 million hits!
In addition to Ed’s epic rise with his recorded music, the Suffolk-born artist has also broken records in the live sphere over recent years. In July 2015 Ed took to the stage of Wembley Stadium, solo, becoming the first-ever artist to headline the prestigious venue without a band - with just his trademark loop pedal and guitar – seeing him play to 240,000 people over three consecutive sold-out nights! Securing a very special collaboration with Sir Elton John on the opening night, Ed followed with the release of his live DVD ‘Jumpers for Goalposts’ at the end of 2015, documenting the lead-up and live performances from the Wembley weekend. Moreover, not only has Ed caught the headlines with his phenomenal solo concerts, he's also been involved in an array of spellbinding collaborative performances over his career to date, further proving his colossal status in the musical world - in 2012, Ed performed at the London Olympics' closing ceremony alongside members of Pink Floyd and Genesis for a very special version of "Wish You Were Here" and in 2015, Ed shared the stage with Beyonce and Gary Clark Jr. at that year's Grammy tribute for Stevie Wonder.
Ed Sheeran’s genre-defying third studio album ÷ (divide) was released on 3rd March through Asylum/Atlantic Records (available now).

I was invited to be part of the #OnlyOneTutuban shopping challenge and I was super excited to explore Tutuban Center since I can't remember the last time I was there, it's a bit far from our place and I remembered the place was too crowded to go shop. But recently because of this event, I was surprised that the place is now super clean and clear of so many vendors everywhere, they are now located on the sides and in an orderly manner. Anyway, the challenge was to shop for Rainy Day must haves, school supplies, OOTD, and sulit buys with a budget of Php1,000. Was I able to do the challenge? Yes! Watch the video to see my Tutuban Haul.

Here's also another short clip during our shopping day.

There are a lot more that Tutuban has to offer, no need to worry if you have your cars with you because there's enough and secured parking spaces for everyone. Come and shop soon....

Momshies
May is Mother’s Month and I am one of the lucky moms who were invited by BlueWater Day Spa for a pampering treat. I opted to try their Cellulite Melter Massage, I read that this spa treatment helps in releasing excess water from the body and leaves the skin looking younger and glowing. As a work-from-home mom, juggling work, good housekeeping and giving into my toddler’s needs and “kakulitan” leaves my body tired and sometimes a body part aches, so I am very thankful for this Spa treat.

Every time I visit BlueWater Day Spa, I instantly feel relaxed the moment I enter their premises, the smell of essential oils, and the calm vibe makes me want to immediately jump into their massage bed and be pampered.  But before that, locker room first, change clothes and then hit the Sauna room to get some steam and maybe remove some fats lol!

Massage time is always the best part, their therapist are really good,
I don’t usually nap during massages because other therapists can sometimes be hard when massaging me, you know I am chubby and they thought I want it hard lol! But with BlueWater Day Spa therapist, I just inform them that I want it light and then I can take my nap, no need to constantly remind them, I can truly relax.

Thank you BlueWater Day Spa for another pampering session and Mother’s Day treat.

For your relaxation needs, here’s list of their best spa services:

Cellulite Melter Massage
Take pleasure in a rigorous massage that eliminates fluid retention, detoxifies and burns fat and cellulite. The treatment is applied with a special anti-cellulite oil to reinforce fat breakdown, evidently felt during the treatment with a warm sensation.

Body Scrubs
Intense Whitening
Tired of being in the shade? Get fairer skin all over with this skin treatment that uses state-of-the-art Swedish whitening products enhanced with Vitamin C. The 1-hour treatment involves cleansing, micro- exfoliation, application of an intensive whitening mask via body wrapping, and moisturizing. Expect progressively visible results afterwards!

Olive Scrub
Bring dull skin to life with a refreshing body scrub that moisturizes and helps skin remain soft and smooth while keeping it toned and firmed.

Green Tea Scrub
Get cleansing, gentle exfoliation and super moisturization in one easy treatment. Green tea is known to be an antioxidant powerhouse. It is said to help in slowing down the premature aging process, thus leaving your skin youthful. Green Tea is an excellent antibacterial and anti-inflammatory agent that protects the skin against free radical damage, increases the effectiveness of sunscreen and reduces inflammation caused by sun damage.

Pomegranate Scrub
It’s rumored that Eve’s forbidden fruit was a pomegranate, not an apple! The pomegranate originally comes from Iran, and its exotic taste is both sweet and sour. Its seeds are rich in both vitamins and minerals and are said to contain more antioxidants than green tea and also to have healthy levels of folic acid, iron, and potassium. The antioxidants in pomegranate juice are reported to stimulate collagen production when used both topically and consumed internally, which will then combat the ravages of free radicals, which are very much like rust.

Botanical Rice & Milk (NEW & IMPROVED)
Soften your skin with nature’s staples - rice and milk. This natural body mask, applied after a relaxing salt and oil body scrub, restores the skin’s pH level to make it soft, supple and nourished.

Traditional Filipino Hilot
Come home to the tender and healing massage strokes of traditional Filipino descent: the hilot. Enhanced with a 15-minute Ventusa (Chinese cupping) technique that uses indigenous herbs, this massage soothes tense muscles and eliminates nodules forming particularly on the back area.
